SERVICES PROVIDED

CLASSROOM GUIDANCE LESSONS:

I work with children in the classroom through guidance lessons that focus on many different areas including success in school, coping with feelings, making and keeping friends, goal setting, bullying and problem solving. Lessons are preventative in design and are presented to all students.  

GROUP COUNSELING:

Group Counseling is provided for small groups of students experiencing similar concerns.  These may include classroom survival skills, emotional management, making and keeping friends, and/or improving self-esteem.  Groups generally range from 4 to 6 students and last for 8-10 sessions. Parents/guardians or staff members can recommend students for groups. Students can also self-refer. Parents will be notified if students are invited to be a part of a small group.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING:

One-on-one counseling support is available to all students in grades TK to 5. Students may self-refer or be referred to the counselors by teachers/staff and/or parents. Confidentiality is respected.

CONSULTATIONS:

Another function of an elementary school counselor is to consult with parents, teachers and administrators about any special concerns affecting a student’s school achievement and/or emotional wellness.
